Snowy Christmas Morning

Here's a great cutting made from a pattern by Mike Shambro. It's difficult to get the look of snow on a scroll saw cutting but I think it comes off very good in this scene.

Stalking Leopard

This particular cutting took a long time to finish. I didn't count the hours because I thought it would discourage me from going further. I'm guessing around 30 hours, and around 1,000 holes! The pattern is by Kerry Hallam, a great pattern designer. It's a very realistic picture and the detail is amazing. I hope you like it.

Jet Fighter

This jet fighter is made from a pattern by Dan Wilckens. I used aspen for the lighter wood, walnut for the darker wood, and paduak for the missles and exhaust. The contrast of the different woods really stand out. It's mounted on an oak stand. It's a lot of fun to cut and really makes a great show piece. It is a little top-heavy so extra care needs to be taken. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Uncommon Valor

Uncommon Valor is a very fitting title of this cutting of the flag raising at Iwo Jima. Jeff Zaffino created this pattern and it was a lot of fun to cut. Lots of small cuts very close together. I cut it on 1/8" baltic birch, 11" X 14" in size.  When I saw the pattern at first I thought it was way too busy and tried to simplify it, but I'm glad I didn't, because I think all the small cuts show the look of the camoflauge uniforms and really give it a very striking look. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Clint Eastwood

This Clint Easwood pattern was created by Charlie Dearing - a fantastic pattern maker from Texas. The silhouette effect in this portrait really makes it a striking image. It has a lot of fragile cuts and leaves very little wood to hang on to the edges. It's just a great portrait.
